The Void Within Plot Guide

The Plot Story

First of all, head to the Home Page of the Plot.
Click on the Story tab to track the plot developments of this narrative, which is structured into 21 chapters, each featuring vignette-style illustrations. The story unfolds gradually and consistently over time. While some chapters receive daily updates, others alternate between release days and rest days.

Additionally, each chapter includes a catch-up day following the final vignette’s release, allowing everyone to stay up to date before the next chapter begins. This structure ensures that even if Sunday is your only free day, you can use it to catch up on the chapter’s story and any new content released that week without missing out on rewards. Exclusive rewards are only forfeited at the end of each three-week chapter cycle.

Chapter 1: A Riot of Colour

Chapter 1: A Riot of Colour launched on June 17th, depicting the sudden transformation of Meridell into a grayscale landscape overnight upon the arrival of a mysterious figure. King Altador and Queen Fyora convene Neopia’s protectors to establish an elite council.

On July 29th, Chapter 3: With a Light Heart began . Nyx and Juni now appeal to the Council and must prove that they pose no threat to the assembled leaders before they can receive help. Fyora summons a Fairy of Light with a unique power to help shed some light on this situation.

On the morning of November 1, TNT made an announcement on the official Neoboards that The Void Within will be paused at the end of the current Chapter 7, which is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, November 10.

We’re pausing the Void Within plot between Chapters 7 and 8 to make exciting improvements based on your feedback. Thank you all for your energy and insights — your involvement has been incredible!

During this brief break, plot-related activities like void point collection, battles, volunteering, comics, and achievements will pause.

We have plenty of holiday events planned for the rest of this year, and The Void Within will return after the holiday season in early 2025!

Upon further inspection of the FAQ page, it is advised that certain activities will pause prior to the November 10 date:

1. Buying and activating double plot point cookies: November 1st
2. Void essence collection: November 8th
3. Volunteering at the Neohospital: November 9th
4. Fighting plot challengers: November 9th
5. Reading comics from the current chapter: November 11th

It is believed that according to the FAQ page that the changes Neopets will look to introduce to the plot include:

1. Bug fixes
2. More difficult battledome challengers
3. New battledome and prize items
4. More games
5. Daily activities will be rebalanced to allow players to enjoy the plot at a more relaxed pace.
6. The plot pacing will be re-arranged to improve story cadence.

It is to be noted that the FAQ information has previously not been 100% accurate, however if we receive any other intro that contradicts any of the above, we will be sure to update you!

Void Essence Collection

Following the appearance of a rift in the sky, bursts of Void Essence energy started appearing throughout Neopia’s lands. Queen Fyora and King Altador took notice and convened all Neopian leaders to form a committee tasked with addressing the enigmatic rift and its grayish impact on Neopians.

Following the leaders’ dialogue during the June 27, 2024 meeting, the first plot activity is launched to assist Jerdana and Dr. Landelbrot in gathering Void Essence for analysis. According to the FAQ page, this activity will continue throughout the plot.

To start, we need to agree to aid them in the Void Essence Gathering by clicking the ‘Star Searching’ button in the dialogue window that appears at the conclusion. This action will directly navigate us to the map of Neopia.

Keep in mind that each “Void Essence” collected earns you 5 points in the prize shop. If you gather 80% of the essences within the week, you qualify for the weekly prize from the “Void Essence Collection Prize List” (specific prizes are yet to be disclosed), which expands with each new plot act. You can monitor your “Void Essence” count at the bottom of the main plot page.

Additionally, in Act 1, there is an achievement for collecting 50 void essences, which awards additional plot points upon completion. This achievement, marked as (1/3), will reappear two more times in Act 1: first after collecting the initial 50 essences, with subsequent tasks requiring an unspecified amount of void essences to fulfill.

Essence Collection is a daily activity, which if not performed on the day, it cannot be redone for the previous days!

Void essence collection also features a weekly tracking system, starting with the first week on Thursday, June 27 at 10am NST, where day 1 extends for just over 36 hours. Subsequent weeks commence at midnight on Fridays, lasting precisely 168 hours (7 full days), resetting weekly at the same time. There is a weekly bonus prize for achieving the required void essence collection; detailed information can be found below.

5 community prizes will also be distributed every time a certain amount of essences is collected by all participating users. You can view them by clicking on the small “i” on the event’s main page .

UPDATE:
As of July 8th, the 10 Void Essence can be found in a series of locations. These are at random each day but at the same location for all users. Sketched Neo will be posting daily at the top of this guide where the locations are.

Reserve Barracks Battling and Hospital Volunteering:

NOTE: Battling and Hostpital Shifts will pause as part of the Plot Pause on November 9th, with indication they will resume in the early months of 2025.

From July 8 Chapter 2 of the Story revealed that the Battle for Brightvale I had begun. From this Battledome activity (at the Reserve Barracks) became available.

As well as this, you can volunteer at the Neo Hospital to aid in caring for wounded pets from the battle in 6 hour shifts.

With either of these options you are able to participate in both at the same time. However a Neopet is unable to battle if they are occupied volunteering at the Hospital for the 6 hour shift.
As of July 10, you can volunteer x2 Pets that currently aren’t in a battle. Based on this it appears you will now be able to now be able to gain 160 maximum points volunteering.

Prizes for each of these activities are as below:

Hospital

+20 Points per hospital shift, as well as a random prize from the pool.

Battling

Each battle that is completed will award +10 Points regardless of the difficulty.
Each battle set has a wave of 4, so the possibility is +40 per battle set if you win all. In the event you are unable to beat the final opponent you can start a new battle set to make up the points. TNT have said that there is a maximum of +200 points for battling each day, which if winning all 5 in a set would equate to 20 battles.
